The Crown of Roses (2021)
difficulty: easy
duration: 1’27
instrumentation: adaptable
The Crown of Roses is originally composed by Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1883 as a song for voice and piano. The words are derived from the original poem “Roses and Thorns” by American poet Richard Henry Stoddard. Translated into Russian by poet Aleksey Pleshcheyev, the words describe a dramatic encounter between a child - aged Jesus and his peers. I transcribed it for Flexible Band Instrumentation because of it’s SATB nature.
