Go Get It! (2024)
difficulty: easy
duration: ca. 4’00
instrumentation: voice, band and strings
Go Get It! was written for Amy Rever-Oberle and the Hart Middle School Music Program.
The music within the piece is built upon an adventurous fanfare-like motif which is introduced in the middle voice and travels throughout the voicing families of the ensemble(s). The main figure is accompanied by encouraging counter lines and determined eighth notes. Variation is made in orchestration, in dynamic contrast as well as style.
A short overture-like piece for multiple ensembles. Containing parts for band, orchestra, and chorus, the work is meant to encourage and empower the go getter, the bag chaser, the ambitious among us. The people who want to impact the world in some way, be it large or small. We all have desires and pursuits. What are yours? Whatever they may be, always remember, Ready, Set, Go Get It!
Go Get It! is meant to bring the music department together as one performing unit. The piece may be performed independently between the two large ensembles; however, the choir should always accompany either the band or orchestra in performance of the piece.
